Dear Friends,

Thank you for your interest in the Chabad Hebrew. Enclosed please find a registration package, which includes our curriculum, information about the Hebrew experiance & a registration application.

At Chabad Hebrew, we firmly believe that your child's Jewish learning experience should be fun, upbeat, and interesting.

At Chabad Hebrew, families of all backgrounds and affiliations are made to feel welcome. Tuition is affordable and synagogue membership is optional. Families are welcome to attend services at the Chabad Synagogue.

It is our goal and hope to instill each child with a pride of their Jewish heritage in a fun and enjoyable manner. We hope to help your child bring you much continued Nachas (joy).

Classes will be held on Sunday mornings from 10:00 – 12:45 pm at the Chabad Center. (please note the new time schedule).

Hebrew School students must commit to participate in 6 out of 8 Youth Zone sessions, held monthly from 12:45-2:30 pm on Sundays right after Hebrew School. The cost of one Friday evening Shabbat Community meal for a Family of Two Adults & Two children is also included in the tuition

We ask for a reservation on the Thursday prior to the Sunday Youth Zone meetings in order to insure enough materials etc..for each club meet. RSVP can be made by emailing Chani at: C [email protected] or by calling the office at 973 694-6274 and leaving a message. While our Center provides excellent Hebrew instruction and hopes to instill a love for Judaism in each and every student, we are also a Center for Jewish programming & community service. The Youth Zone provides an excellent opportunity for children to feel part of their Jewish Center.

A full color calendar with the dates and special Youth Zone activities will be mailed to you under separate cover by the first week of August. Mark your calendars AT THAT TIME to AVOID CONFLICTS later on in the year.

We are enthusiastic about the beautiful lessons that Judaism has to offer, and we hope to transmit that excitement to the children through the excellent Hebrew program at Chabad.

The Chabad Hebrew offers an outstanding program that will give your child a solid foundation in the fundamentals of Judaism, and will instill in your child the faith, beauty and values of our heritage.

All lessons will be taught in a manner that will give the children a great appreciation of our rich Jewish heritage. Role-playing, arts & crafts, hands-on experiences, and songs will be incorporated to help make the lessons enjoyable.

We plan special programs during the year, such as Shabbat experiences, Shofar Factory, Chanukah Activities, Purim Extravaganza, Passover Matzah Baking, Passover Seder, Lag B'Omer Community Barbeque, and more. We believe that the joy and pride in Yidishkeit (Judaism) that will be experienced at the Chabad Hebrew School will make an indelible impression upon the children

Hebrew School Families must commit to participate in the Purim Extravaganza on Sunday March 16, 5:30 pm. Purim is a fun time for Jewish kids & Adults alike and fosters friendships in the community. The nominal fee for a Family of Two Adults & Two children is included in the tuition (reduced rate available for additional family members). This amount covers the cost of the Purim Extravaganza which includes entertainment & great activities. Families are encouraged to invite friends to join.

Hebrew vocabulary is a basic part of the program - children will learn Hebrew words related to current themes.

Our Hebrew reading curriculum uses the latest educational breakthrough. Based on the martial arts motivational philosophy of color coded levels and testing, Aleph Champ provides excitement and inspiration, leading the students into a winning cycle of learning.

The Hebrew alphabet as well as the vowels and word formations are divided into 10 colored levels. The students start out as "White Aleph Champs", working their way up the colors of the rainbow to be a "Black Aleph Champ" like their teachers. Games, cards, logs and rewards make every step along this remarkable journey a fun and educational success.

Children will be taught the meaning of Mitzvot - Torah commandments - and will be encouraged to enjoy the experience of doing Mitzvot. Each Mitzvah will be introduced with a hands-on experience. Some mitzvot emphasized are Tzedakah, loving one another, hospitality, honoring parents, mezuzah, and brachot (blessings). We encourage parents of younger children to let us know of a Mitzvah your child has done with a “Mitzvah note” since it really makes the child feel special.

Children will learn to appreciate the special quality and holiness of Shabbat and Holidays. They will become familiar with the historical background, customs, and observances of each festival through stories, songs, activities and projects.

Children will start to learn simple, basic prayers and blessings. We will make a tape of the children singing the prayers so that they will be able to continue at home if they would like to.

Children will learn to view our Avot (patriarchs) and Imahot (matriarchs) and other Jewish heroic figures as role models. They will be taught morals and ethics from people highlighted in the weekly Torah portion. The children will gain knowledge of and a love for the land of Israel and its people.

Please send a Kippa with your child. Please make sure he has one each time he comes

More than anyone else, Chabad is known for its ability to:
